The One on One building has been nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2017

The One on One office building, located at 1 Route d’Esch in Luxembourg City, has been nominated for the highly prestigious Mies van der Rohe Award 2017 for architecture.
Organised every 2 years by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, the prize is awarded to the best contemporary architecture in Europe. In this 15th edition, the European Commission, the Fundació Mies van der Rohe and a jury of 86 independent experts selected 356 works from 39 countries, including 5 representing Luxembourg.
Ikogest and Moreno Architecture & Associés are very proud of this nomination, which is a huge honour in itself.
Watch this space at the end of January to find out which 40 works will proceed to the next stage, in April to discover the five finalists and, finally, on 26 May 2017 when the winner will be announced.
Opkorn topping-out ceremony in Differdange

Work is progressing in Differdange! On 9 December, Ikogest and CLE held the topping-out ceremony for the Opkorn shopping centre. This event, which marks the end of the structural work, is traditionally held to thank the workers, engineers and architects who contribute to the project. The event drew 200 people together including CLE staff, engineers, the Moreno Architecture & Associés office, Auchan Luxembourg representatives, Opkorn retailers and officials from the town of Differdange.
The Opkorn centre, its Auchan hypermarket and arcade of 27 stores, 3 kiosks and 5 restaurants will open before the end of 2017.
One on One certified Excellent

The One on One office building has just received its final BREEAM "Excellent" certification with a score of 72.10%. It's such a remarkable result that the building will soon be considered as a case study on the BREEAM website!
As well as being a model in terms of sustainable construction, One on One is also a model of architectural excellence, being heralded again by PaperJam magazine a few days ago. Read their article here (in French).

Chaplin’s World: checking in after 6 months

Chaplin's World celebrated its 6-month anniversary on 17 October! During these opening 6 months more than 125,000 visitors came from all 4 corners of the world, exceeding even the most optimistic estimated figures. Among these visitors was the Ikogest team, the delegated project owner and project manager, who came along as regular tourists to happily rediscover the magic of this exceptional site.

Borders shopping centre foundation stone

New phase for the construction site in Remerschen! The stakeholders involved in the project met this Thursday 30 June in order to celebrate the commencement of the work already started in April of this year.
For the occasion, Ben Homan, Mayor of Schengen, Eric Lux and Gilles Bindels, Borders co- developers for Ikogest and Luxembourg Capital, Tanguy t'Serstevens, Country Manager of Delhaize Luxembourg and Tom Beiler, architect of the firm Beiler + François Architectes placed a commemorative plaque. Everyone expressed their enthusiasm regarding the future opening of the Borders shopping centre.
The plaque will be store during construction and then visible in the shopping centre after its opening in summer 2017.
One on One wins the Bauhärepräis 2016

Every four years, the Luxembourg Order of Architects and Consulting Engineers organises the Bauhärepräis, a coveted prize that rewards the country’s best architectural projects. From the 317 projects presented this year, the One on One building won the prize in the “office building, workplace” category.
Designed by Moreno Architecture & Associés, the impressive façade of the One on One building won over the jury, who specifically commended the “urban solution proposed and its very distinct architectural expression.” Watch the One on One clip filmed for the occasion.
Foundation stone laid at the Opkorn shopping centre

The foundation stone of the Opkorn shopping centre has been officially laid in Differdange! Stakeholders in the project gathered at the construction site on Thursday 12 May to mark the start of the work, which began in March. More than a symbolic foundation stone, they witnessed the installation of a pre-wall measuring around five by three metres weighing almost five tons. This piece closes the shopping centre at the -2 level, under the archway that will frame the main pedestrian entrance.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Francine Closener, Secretary of State for the Economy, Roberto Traversini, Mayor of Differdange, Eric Lux, CEO of Ikogest, and François Remy, Executive Chairman of Auchan Luxembourg. They all expressed their enthusiasm to see the Opkorn shopping centre open at the end of 2017 in Differdange.
Work begins on Borders

Work has now begun on the Borders shopping centre in Remerschen. The centre is being built opposite the Schengen motorway exit, and from summer 2017 it will be home to a Delhaize supermarket, 20 stores and services and a restaurant with terrace.
Ikogest is co-developer of the project with its partner Luxembourg Capital.
1, 2, 3 buildings nominated for Bauhärepräis

Every 4 years, the Order of Architects and Engineers of Luxembourg (OAI) recognises those buildings that really stand out for the quality of their architecture, engineering and urban planning.
3 Ikogest projects are in the running for the Bauhärepräis 2016. One on One, 10 Charlotte and 1 boulevard Royal are all nominated in the "administrative and office buildings" category. The awards will be presented on 6 June. In 2012, the award was won by Cubus C2 and C3.
Opkorn is on its way!

Work has officially begun on the Opkorn shopping mall at Differdange. The construction equipment has now moved in and the building will start to take shape from mid-June.
The structural work will continue until the end of October under the supervision of general contractors CLE. The other works will then be completed by sub-contractors in time for the scheduled opening in late 2017. Further info on www.opkorn.lu.

The international media has been buzzing with the news that Chaplin's World By Grévin will be opening its doors to the public on Sunday 17 April. There are still a few weeks to go before the grand opening, but the news is already out on the Facebook pages of Manoir de Ban and Chaplin's World.

Urban Living expo 2016

To start the year in a good way, the Urban Living exhibition is back from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 January 2016. You will be able to visit two stands Arboria and Opkorn on this occasion. On the 1st stand Arboria, sole agents Carré Immo and Dan Beck Immobilière will present you brand-new residential novelties. The Opkorn stand will allow you to find out more about the new shopping centre.
We look forward to seeing you at Oberkorn Sports Centre, on Friday 29 from 4pm to 9pm; on Saturday 30 from 2pm to 8pm and Sunday 31 from 10am to 6pm. Live music on Friday from 6pm and Sunday brunch from 11am to 2pm. Everyone is welcome!
